The Ministry of Finance stated that the International Monetary Fund mission began, on Wednesday, conducting the sixth review of the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) program and the third review of the Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF) program in Amman, to assess the progress made in implementing economic and financial reforms.
The Fund's mission commenced holding meetings with the government's economic team and the Governor of the Central Bank to discuss economic, financial, and monetary conditions, and to evaluate compliance with the targets and criteria agreed upon within the framework of the two programs, according to the ministry.
The ministry confirmed that discussions between the government team and the IMF mission will continue for 10 days.
The two reviews gain importance as their completion is linked to making new financing available to Jordan, as disbursement schedules published by the Fund indicate that completing the sixth review of the Extended Fund Facility program is linked to unlocking about $134 million, while the third review of the Resilience and Sustainability Facility program is linked to an amount of no less than $54 million.
The meetings come after the Jordanian economy recorded a growth of 3% during the second quarter of the current year, and inflation reached 2.26% during the first nine months of it, while foreign reserves rose to about $28.47 billion by the end of September.
The IMF Executive Board had completed, on June 17, the fifth review of the Extended Fund Facility program and the second review of the Resilience and Sustainability Facility program, which made financing of approximately $188 million available to Jordan.
The IMF approved the Extended Fund Facility program for Jordan in January 2024 worth approximately $1.3 billion, while in June 2025 it approved the Resilience and Sustainability Facility program worth approximately $700 million, to support long-term reforms, especially in the water, energy, and health emergency preparedness sectors.
