Has the government succeeded?

Perhaps it is time for the private sector to have a share in both cases; it is the one that leads production, reflects economic policies, benefits from them, and interacts with them.

But by habit, the government is the one accountable to public opinion.

The author of this column believes that the government has recorded success in economic policies, not merely by setting long-awaited projects in motion, but because it has actually put them into implementation, starting from this year.

The mere rise in the economic growth rate is an indication that economic policies are moving in the right direction.

We and others may have observations here and there, but the general picture seems satisfactory. This is what the latest opinion poll by the Center for Economic Studies says.

The behavior of Prime Minister Dr. Jafar Hassan in choosing fieldwork has led to positive results, not only in public satisfaction but in finding solutions to problems that were neglected, which only required making decisions that were within reach, but were not taken.

There are a number of positive indicators that have emerged in economic growth, the decline in unemployment, the rise in exports, and others, and there are also challenges that still remain, the most important of which is financing, and here the role of the private sector, which must be more daring, stands out.

The indicators bode well and call for optimism, and have prompted several parties to reconsider their estimates and forecasts for the economic growth rate this year.

The most important challenge is the national economy falling under the burden of regional circumstances that hinder the progress of tourism and attracting investment, but the government decided to go on the offensive instead of the defensive, so it decided to launch major projects worth approximately 15 billion dinars, and stirred the stagnant waters of tourism.

We were constantly calling for not throwing everything on the pretext of circumstances, and this government has responded to this opinion.
