The President of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, Khalil Hajj Tawfiq, confirmed that the directives of His Highness Crown Prince Al-Hussein bin Abdullah II to the government carry a clear economic vision based on preparing for changes, speeding up achievement, linking plans with implementation, and placing the interest of the citizen and improving their standard of living at the forefront of priorities.
Hajj Tawfiq said in a statement today, Friday, that the importance of the directives of His Highness the Crown Prince comes at a time when the region and the world are witnessing rapid changes, which require us to be more prepared and quick in decision-making, and to deal with economic changes before they turn into challenges affecting the markets, economic sectors, or the lives of citizens.
His Highness Crown Prince Al-Hussein bin Abdullah II had chaired last Wednesday a part of the Council of Ministers session to follow up on a number of files and issues related to vital sectors, and called for speeding up the pace of work to face the economic repercussions of the escalation in the region.
Hajj Tawfiq added that dealing with supply chains as a national priority and maintaining a strategic stock of essential materials and goods carry an important message to the commercial sector, which realizes from its experience over the past years that market stability and the availability of goods represent a shared national responsibility.
He confirmed that Jordan has succeeded during successive global and regional crises in maintaining the stability of its markets and the availability of essential goods, and the commercial and importing sectors were a fundamental part of these efforts, and they will continue to fulfill their national responsibility regardless of the complexity of the surrounding circumstances.
Hajj Tawfiq said that what draws attention in the directives of His Highness the Crown Prince is the comprehensive view of the economy, as trade, tourism, transportation, shipping, technology, opening new markets, and economic horizons are not separate files, but a single system, and the higher the efficiency of this system, the more it will directly reflect on growth, job opportunities, and the standard of living of the citizen.
He added that His Highness's emphasis on the need to build on the efforts of His Majesty King Abdullah II in opening political and economic horizons with various countries around the world is of particular importance to the private sector, calling for translating these efforts into tangible commercial, investment, partnership, and project opportunities that benefit the national economy.
He pointed out that the Jordanian private sector has a wide network of relations with Arab and international business communities, and can play a greater role in turning these horizons into economic results, affirming the readiness of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce and the commercial chambers in the Kingdom to harness their relations and capabilities to serve this direction.
Hajj Tawfiq emphasized that the current phase requires strengthening confidence in the national economy, stimulating investment, and enabling the private sector to play its role in growth and providing job opportunities, alongside protecting market stability and enhancing the economy's ability to deal with any external developments.
He said: "The strength of the economy is not only measured by what it achieves under normal circumstances, but by its ability to continue and work, protect its markets, and protect the interests of its citizens when crises intensify around it"
Hajj Tawfiq stressed that the Jordan Chamber of Commerce views the directives of His Highness the Crown Prince as a call to action and achievement, confirming that the commercial and service sector will be an active partner in every national effort aimed at strengthening the resilience of the economy, expanding its opportunities, and improving the standard of living of citizens.
