((Girls' Football)) Misses Asian Qualifiers

The national women's football team failed to secure a ticket to the 2027 AFC U-17 Asia Cup, after losing to the Republic of Korea 0-9 in the third and final round of Group A matches yesterday at the Tursunzoda Central Stadium in Dushanbe.

While the national team's score stood at four points from a win and a draw, the Republic of Korea secured the sole qualifying ticket for the finals after leading the group standings with 9 points from three matches.

The first round of group matches on Monday saw the Republic of Korea defeat the UAE 16-0, and Jordan draw with Tajikistan 1-1.

In contrast, the second round held on Thursday saw the Republic of Korea defeat Tajikistan 6-0, and Jordan defeat the UAE 6-0.

The winner of each of the eight groups qualifies for the finals, joining the teams that secured the top spots in the previous edition, namely the reigning champion Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Japan, Australia, and China.
