The fate of the national women's junior football team in the Asian qualifiers for the AFC U-17 Women's Asian Cup 2027 will be decided today, Sunday.
To secure direct qualification to the finals, the national team must win against its Korean counterpart in the match taking place at 1:00 PM Jordan time at Tursunzade Stadium, as part of the third and final round of Group A matches, which also features a match between Tajikistan and the UAE.
South Korea tops the standings with 6 points from two wins, compared to 4 points for the national team from a win and a draw, and one point for Tajikistan, while the UAE remains without points.
The first-place team in each of the eight groups qualifies for the finals, joining the teams that secured top spots in the previous edition: defending champions North Korea, Japan, Australia, and China.
The first round saw South Korea defeat the UAE 16-0 and Jordan draw with Tajikistan 1-1, while in the second round the national team defeated the UAE 6-0 and South Korea defeated hosts Tajikistan 6-0.
