French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez ruled out, on Monday, any questioning of holding football matches, at a time when the intensive mobilization of security forces continues to confront acts of violence and looting.
Nuñez said during a press conference at Matignon alongside Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu that "the question of whether or not to hold the match (Tuesday in Paris) between Paris Saint-Germain and (Spanish) Barcelona is not on the table," as is the case for "other matches that may be held within European competitions," especially "in Lille."
He added, confirming, "The matches are not in question."
Paris Saint-Germain, the champion of the past two years, faces its guest Barcelona on Tuesday in the third round of the unified group stage of the Champions League, while Lille plays on Wednesday against its guest, the Turkish club Galatasaray, in the same round.
