From an accounting and financial perspective, financial thought treats this situation as a shift in funds as restricted assets (Restricted Asset) whose original ownership does not change but are prevented from trading or investing returns. Here, the modern International Financial Reporting Standard (IFRS 18) related to the presentation of financial statements mandates mandatory and accurate disclosure in the accompanying notes, due to the impact of these frozen balances on the liquidity of countries, companies, and their investment institutions abroad and their ability to continue. The accounting importance of this measure lies in cutting off the arteries of cash liquidity and drying up sources of financing illegal activities, imposing a pressing economic reality that disrupts financial systems contrary to international legitimacy, and forcing penalized entities to reassess their operational risks and comply with global market regulations by subjecting their cash flows to strict banking supervision that disrupts their ability to maneuver, reflecting the integration of accounting frameworks with geopolitical objectives in surrounding illicit funding sources and ensuring the stability of global financial markets.
His Majesty employed this strategic expression in his UN speech to emphasize a glaring reality represented by the double international standards; the world possesses effective tools such as asset freezing and deterrent sanctions but hesitates to use them when it comes to holding Israel accountable and stopping its ongoing violations in Gaza and the West Bank. His Majesty used this concept to demonstrate that the absence of real action is not due to a lack of options or tools but is a political choice that grants the occupation an umbrella of impunity. Hence, the royal vision calls on the international community to move beyond the stage of ink on paper and activate these economic tools firmly and fairly, because continued global neglect will extend its danger to threaten the entire regional and international security. In my opinion, restoring international credibility begins with applying justice standards to everyone without exception and protecting the future of peoples from the consequences of injustice and continuous inaction, which necessitates a global conscience awakening that restores respect for international law rules and puts an end to the culture of impunity.
