The city of Aqaba is preparing to host a new edition of the Ayla Red Sea Half Marathon on Friday, December 4, organized by the Run Jordan association, in partnership with the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, and with the support of Ayla Oasis Development Company, the official sponsor of the race.
This year's edition marks an important milestone in the race's journey, having received international road race certification for the second consecutive year, reflecting the continuous work to develop the event, elevate its organizational standards, and enhance its presence among sporting events that attract runners from both inside and outside Jordan.
Run Jordan Director General Lina Al-Kurd said: "The continued international certification of the Ayla Red Sea Half Marathon represents an important milestone in the race's journey and confirms our commitment to its ongoing development and providing a distinctive experience for runners. We are also proud of this event's role in highlighting Aqaba as a sports and tourism destination, and of the social message it carries by utilizing sports to support initiatives that leave a positive impact on the community."
Aqaba gives the race a distinctive character, thanks to its location on the Red Sea and the diversity of its tourism and natural experiences, allowing participants to combine athletic challenge with discovering the city. The event also contributes to stimulating tourism, attracting visitors, and strengthening the presence of sports as a tributary of economic and social activity in the governorate.
The race maintains its mission of linking sports participation with giving through its slogan "Run for a Cause," which reflects the association's direction toward expanding the impact of sporting events and supporting humanitarian and developmental initiatives.
The association continues to focus on sustainability practices and encouraging the participation of people with disabilities, thereby enhancing opportunities for sports participation and making it more inclusive.
