Two informed sources told Reuters that the Saudi oil giant Aramco is planning to restructure its operations to establish a new gas division, as part of potential efforts to list business units on the stock exchange in the future with the aim of raising capital.
The company has not yet responded to a request for comment.
This move is in line with a strategy followed by oil companies in the Gulf countries, which involves offering shares of their activities to external investors while retaining operational control, and largely avoiding opening the field for foreign investment in their main oil production divisions.
