The first football team at Al-Wehdat Club is awaiting the official announcement of the signing of Egyptian coach Emad Al-Nahhas to take over technical management duties, after the club ended its association with head coach Wasim Al-Buzour by mutual consent, along with general coach Anzor Nafsh, assistant coach Mohammed Jamal, and performance analyst Mohammed Al-Barghouthi.
The club's official spokesperson, Walid Al-Saudi, stated that the club's board of directors appreciates and values the efforts made by Al-Buzour and the technical staff during the past period, wishing them success in their future mission.
In the same context, and according to statements by businessman Emad Al-Dumaisi, one of Al-Wehdat Club's supporters, he took it upon himself to search for a new coach to lead the team during the coming period, revealing that he presented several coaches to the board of directors, including Egyptian coach Emad Al-Nahhas, who was voted for by some members of the board.
The move to end the association with Al-Buzour comes in light of dissatisfaction with the results achieved by Al-Wehdat so far in local tournaments, as the team has two points from two draws and a loss after three rounds of the Professional League, which has placed the team in a position that does not match its ambitions and the aspirations of its fans.
Al-Wehdat also failed to reach the final of the Super Cup after losing to Al-Faisaly, leaving the team with the need to reorganize its technical affairs, especially with the start of the season and upcoming local commitments that require technical stability and better results.
The club's management seeks, during the coming period, to finalize the new head coach file, ensuring stability for the team and preparing it to compete for local tournaments. The new coach's task is expected to focus on addressing the errors that appeared during the past matches, raising the level of harmony between the players, and improving results in the league championship.
Al-Wehdat hopes that this step will mark a new beginning for the team, given the importance of the coming period and the necessity of restoring confidence and achieving results that align with the scale of ambitions held by the club and its fans, especially since the season is still in its early stages, which gives the new technical staff an opportunity to work on correcting the path.
Who is Al-Nahhas?
Emad Al-Nahhas is a former Egyptian football player in the center-back position and a professional head coach. He was born on February 15, 1976, in Minya Governorate and is considered one of the most prominent defenders in the history of Al Ahly SC and Egyptian football during its golden generation.
He began his career at Aswan SC, then moved to Ismaily SC, with whom he won the Egyptian Premier League title. He later had a professional experience at Al-Nassr Saudi Club before moving to Egypt's Al Ahly in 2004, where he became the team's defensive rock and led it to win a huge number of local and continental championships, and participated in the FIFA Club World Cup, until he retired due to injury. He also represented the Egypt national football team on many international occasions.
After retiring, he turned to coaching and oversaw the technical management of several Egyptian and Arab clubs. Among his most prominent recent stops was with Al Masry SC: he took charge of the team and succeeded in leading it to win the Egyptian League Cup, but he left the team in September 2026 after the start of the new season following disagreements with the management and a difference in viewpoints.
He has also previously coached other prominent clubs such as Al Mokawloon Al Arab, Al Ittihad of Alexandria, and Iraq's Al-Zawraa SC.
