Abu Omar: New Expansions in Aqaba Garment Factories Boost Investment and Job Opportunities

Dr. Mohamed Abu Omar, Commissioner of Economic Affairs and Investment at the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority, confirmed that the authority continues its approach of post-investment care, which supports the sustainability of existing projects, their expansion, and increased production capacity, thereby enhancing its ability to provide new and quality job opportunities for the people of Aqaba, especially in administrative, technical, and specialized fields.

This was during a field visit conducted by Abu Omar, accompanied by the Director of Investor Services, Saber Aliouh, and the Director of Storage, Raed Al-Dhiabat, to several garment factories operating in the region, including Sydney Garment Factory, Jia Factory, and Al-A'ada Factory, where future expansion plans and employment files were discussed, along with the needs related to human resources, to help absorb the existing talents in Aqaba in specialized administrative and technical jobs.

Abu Omar said that the visit comes within the approach of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority in post-investment care, directly addressing investors' needs and future plans, and working to address the challenges they face, enabling them to expand and increase their productivity, and create new and quality job opportunities for the local community.

He added that the employment file is of particular importance to the authority, stemming from the desire to link the growth of investments with the needs of the local labor market, and to benefit from the talents and expertise available in Aqaba, especially in administrative and technical jobs that require specialized skills and qualifications.

Abu Omar pointed out that the authority views the investor as a partner in development, working to provide a supportive investment environment that helps existing projects grow and expand, alongside attracting more industrial and productive investments to the region, which reflects on the local economy and expands the base of job opportunities.

He explained that the field follow-up of existing investment projects and the enhancement of direct communication with investors represent a continuous approach by the authority, contributing to the sustainability of investments and expanding their economic and developmental impact, and establishing Aqaba as an attractive destination for industrial and productive investments, ensuring that the growth of these investments is accompanied by the creation of quality job opportunities that match the capabilities and competencies of Aqaba's people.
