The "Keep Your Bag in Your Car" Initiative in Abein to Reduce Random Waste Disposal

In conjunction with the International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development 2026, under the slogan "Year of Volunteering," the Environmental Protection Directorate of Ajloun Governorate, in cooperation with the Youth and Women Center of Abein, represented by the Scout Troop, and in partnership with the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature of Ajloun Governorate, implemented the "Keep Your Bag in Your Car" initiative today, Sunday, as part of the executive program of the cleanliness strategy and the reduction of random waste disposal launched by the Ministry of Environment.
The initiative included distributing environmentally friendly bags intended for use inside vehicles, along with distributing environmentally friendly green waste bags to shop owners in the commercial center of Abein, with the aim of enhancing environmental awareness and establishing positive practices and behaviors among citizens, drivers, and shop owners.
The initiative aims to encourage drivers to keep designated bags for collecting waste inside their vehicles and not to throw them on the sides of the road while driving, as well as encouraging shop owners to collect and dispose of waste in proper ways, which contributes to reducing the phenomenon of random waste disposal and maintaining the cleanliness of roads, public places, and the urban appearance of the city.
This initiative is a continuation of the efforts of the Environmental Protection Directorate of Ajloun Governorate to spread environmental culture, enhance partnership with government, security, and youth institutions, and involve community sectors in implementing initiatives aimed at protecting the environment and reducing negative practices that affect the cleanliness of public sites.
It emphasized the importance of combining official and community efforts to establish the concept of environmental responsibility and enhance the role of youth and volunteers in spreading environmental awareness, in line with the goals of sustainable development and contributing to building a clean and safe environment for current and future generations.
The "Keep Your Bag in Your Car" initiative embodies an environmental and community message calling for adherence to civilized behavior, considering that maintaining cleanliness is a shared responsibility that starts with the individual and extends to the family, society, and various institutions.
