Iraqi national team coach Graham Arnold excluded striker Ali Al-Hamadi yesterday, Tuesday, on the eve of the match against Oman in the opening of the 27th edition of the Arabian Gulf Cup in football, due to injury.
Al-Hamadi suffered an injury to his right ankle joint during the training session held by the "Lions of Mesopotamia" in Jeddah on Monday, where medical examinations confirmed his injury.
The Australian coach decided to replace Al-Hamadi with Erbil and Olympic national team striker Mustafa Qabil to complete the mission in his place.
Qabil will join the Iraqi delegation in Jeddah, arriving from the Serbian capital, Belgrade, where the Olympic team is holding a training camp.
Iraq plays in Group A of the Arabian Gulf Cup alongside Oman, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia.
