Partisan, national, religious, and popular groups called this Friday evening for a massive solidarity sit-in at 9:00 PM today in front of the church complex in the Sweifieh area of the capital, Amman, to denounce and condemn the cowardly terrorist attack that targeted the Saint George Greek Orthodox Church in the village of Hamoud in Karak Governorate.
A large gathering of Muslim and Christian clergy, representatives of partisan forces, popular groups, and citizens are expected to participate in the sit-in to express their absolute rejection of this criminal terrorist act that targeted houses of worship and their congregants, emphasizing the strength of Jordanian national unity and the cohesion of its social fabric in the face of the forces of darkness and terrorism.
The Public Security Directorate had announced earlier today that an armed attack targeted the Hamoud Church in Karak Governorate during a funeral procession, resulting in casualties and injuries among citizens.
The incident was met with widespread official and popular condemnation, and official and security authorities vowed to strike with an iron fist anyone who dares to undermine the security and stability of the nation, and to pursue the perpetrators to bring them to justice.
