When the stage of martial law ended and the public sphere opened up, the parties were not renewed, but rather resumed old concerns in a new guise. Parties raise the slogans of the 1960s to face the challenges of the 2020s, creating a deep gap between the party as an organizational and intellectual framework and the real needs of the people. This is why citizens are apathetic, not as some justify it with the "psychological setback" of the Jordanian against partisanship, but because the party itself has not yet convinced them.
The core question: Do our parties today play the role of the party as in established democracies?
The observer notices a strange paradox; parties that are adept at criticizing everything, the state, government, and society, but cannot tolerate self-criticism and do not practice review. They look at people from an idealistic tower, and raise issues far from their living and service priorities, then complain about the lack of popular support around them.
The real party is not a statement issued at every economic decision and then returns to dormancy, the party is an integrated social incubator; a cultural club, a think tank, an economic initiative, and a daily presence in the university, syndicate, and neighborhood. This absence is what has turned the party in the eyes of many into just a quick transit project towards power and position.
The most dangerous flaw is that some of our parties are actually personal projects revolving around their leader, his mood, and his limited experience, so if the leader is absent, the party is absent, and if his convictions change, the party's program changes. Thus, parties turn into frameworks and families, not into sustainable intellectual and programmatic institutions.
Then, let's ask honestly: Do we have real parties outside Amman? How can a party whose deputies rely on their tribe for their success propose a program that contradicts the structure of its base? And how can a trend born on Facebook and Twitter with elegant images and resonant rhetoric withstand on the ground when the practices of its leaders are tested?
However, despite this picture, the positive features are present in moving the general scene and transitioning everyone into an active and politically experienced activism within clear frameworks and effective practices. But the experience in our country needs some patience.
