Monaco suffers its first defeat in the French League and loses the lead

Monaco suffered its first defeat in the French football league this season, after falling to its host Lorient with a single unanswered goal, Sunday, at the "Stade du Moustoir", as part of the seventh round of the competition.

With this result, Monaco dropped from the top of the standings to fourth place with 14 points, trailing on goal difference behind Paris Saint-Germain, Paris FC, and Lille, who occupy the top three spots, while Lorient raised its tally to 11 points, moving up to seventh place.

The match's only goal came in the 61st minute from a penalty kick, awarded by the referee after Guinean Dembo Sylla, Lorient's full-back, was fouled inside the penalty area by Swiss Denis Zakaria, Monaco's captain, with Guadeloupe international Noah Cadiou successfully converting it to give the hosts the lead.

In another match, Paris FC achieved an exciting 4-3 victory over its guest Stade Rennais, in a thrilling, goal-filled encounter decided in stoppage time.

The match saw 4 penalty kicks awarded, three of which were for Rennes, who successfully converted them into their three goals, compared to one penalty for Paris FC, from which they scored the winning goal in the 90+7 minute, earning the hosts three valuable points.

Paris FC raised its tally to 14 points, moving up to second place, benefiting from Monaco's loss, while Rennes' tally remained at 13 points.

In a third match, Auxerre defeated its host Le Havre 3-1, to collect three new points and raise its tally to 9 points, moving up to twelfth place, while Le Havre's tally remained at two points in last place.
