Microsoft Publishes AI Behavior Charter

Microsoft's AI division published a behavior charter on Monday that outlines how its AI models operate, amid growing concerns about the risks of this technology.

The document is based on what Microsoft calls 'Humanist AI', systems designed to remain fully under human control rather than operating independently.

The company explained that the guiding idea is that 'Humans are more important than AI'.

Microsoft partially linked the timing to security concerns, citing large-scale coordinated hacking campaigns recently carried out with the help of AI agents as evidence that the sector cannot afford to delay in establishing regulatory laws.

Microsoft's announcement comes days after Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei published an article calling on AI companies to deliberately slow down the improvement of model capabilities, a call that quickly gained support on social media from Open AI CEO Sam Altman and Elon Musk.

The behavior charter will apply to Microsoft's internal MAI models, which the company has introduced as an alternative to the Open AI technology it has relied on for years.
