Messages of utmost importance to the King at the United Nations

In the speech he delivered at the opening session of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly held in New York, the King renewed his warning about the risks of leaving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict unresolved, as the international community has chosen to contain the conflict instead of addressing it, while Israel continues its attempts to erase the Palestinian presence and impose a new reality in the West Bank and Gaza.

The King called on the world to abandon certain illusions if it wants to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, foremost among which is the belief that Gaza and the West Bank are separate stories, but in reality, they are two sides of the same Israeli strategy: Palestinians are being killed on both fronts, and a new reality is being imposed on the ground, through destruction in Gaza, and through the de facto annexation of lands in the West Bank, and the continued construction of settlements and displacement to achieve a single goal, which is to make the establishment of a viable Palestinian state impossible.

In light of this reality that the region is experiencing due to the ongoing repeated Israeli attacks, Israel seeks to portray the conflict as a war of religions, but it is not a war of religions as the King says, it is a conflict over whether Palestinians, who are 'Muslims and Christians', deserve the same rights as others, emphasizing that in Jordan we protect Christianity - its communities and heritage - in its original and historical homeland, while defending the true image of Islam in the face of voices of hatred, and at the same time affirming that any threat to our northern borders or our water security is a threat to our national security, and that we in Jordan will protect our security, our waters, and the interests of our people.

The King warned the world that the current Israeli government's sense of impunity has reached terrifying levels, while the international community and international law, if applied, possess the tools: sanctions, asset freezes, embargoes, and diplomatic isolation, which are applied in many cases around the world, but when it comes to Israel, they all remain on paper, allowing it to act as it pleases, becoming a state without restraint, as the King said.

The King's speech at the United Nations placed the entire world before its responsibilities towards Israel's continued aggression in the West Bank and Gaza Strip and the pursuit of its expansionist ambitions at the expense of Arab land without any regard for international law and international humanitarian law, which threatens not only the security and stability of the region but also global security and peace.
