"Ma'an Hackathon".. A platform to discover youth energies

Al-Hussein Bin Talal University concluded the activities of the Ma'an Entrepreneurship Hackathon, as part of the efforts of the "Irada" program to promote the culture of entrepreneurship and innovation among youth, and empower them to develop their ideas and transform them into applicable and growing projects that contribute to finding innovative solutions to developmental challenges in Ma'an Governorate, providing job opportunities, and stimulating local economic activity, thereby enhancing sustainable development paths in the governorate and the Jordanian south.

The University President, Dr. Atef Al-Kharabsheh, emphasized in his speech during the ceremony that the university attaches great importance to entrepreneurship and innovation, by providing a stimulating environment that helps students and youth develop their ideas and turn them into practical projects and solutions through learning, training, guidance, and teamwork.

He pointed out that true success is not limited to announcing the names of the winners, but extends to incubating entrepreneurial ideas, following up on them, and transforming them into sustainable projects that contribute to creating job opportunities and enhancing economic and social development, stressing the university's continued cooperation with national partners to support youth initiatives and entrench the culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in Ma'an Governorate.

For his part, the Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Rasa'i, explained that the hackathon represents an important platform to discover youth energies and motivate them to present creative solutions that respond to the needs of the local community, pointing to the importance of the partnership between the university and national institutions in providing the necessary support, training, and guidance to develop entrepreneurial projects and enhance their chances of success and sustainability.

The stages of the hackathon witnessed the registration of 115 participants via the electronic platform, from whom 28 participants were selected to move to the training and development stages, where they underwent training workshops covering idea development, business models, and project pitching skills, before 10 participants qualified for the final competition and presented their projects before a specialized and impartial judging committee to evaluate them and select the winning teams.

The "Ma'an Hackathon" embodies a model of integration between academic and national institutions in supporting entrepreneurship and innovation, incubating promising ideas, and empowering youth to benefit from available opportunities to establish and develop their projects, thereby contributing to supporting the local economy and enhancing sustainable development.
