Jordan's representatives face decisive tests

Strong competition for Kings League quarter-final spots

The Jordanian participation in the first split (Split 1) of the Kings League MENA enters the league stage with teams Red Zone and 3BS in the midst of strong competition with several other teams to secure their seats in the tournament's quarter-finals.

The first split kicked off at the Green Arena in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, marking the first full season of the Kings League in the region, with the participation of 10 teams representing six countries: Jordan, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, and Egypt. So far, the tournament has seen 35 matches played over seven matchdays featuring teams: Red Zone, 3BS, Ultra Chmicha, Bakhira FC, Turbo, FWZ, ABO FC, DR7, RA2, and Rising Peaks, resulting in 338 goals scored, with the decisive rounds remaining today and on the 23rd of this month before the start of the playoffs.

The Jordanian story in the tournament began with a direct confrontation between them, where Red Zone settled the opening "Jordanian Derby" with a big 7-1 win over 3BS. The winner continued its brilliance by achieving consecutive victories over RA2 and ABO FC, securing three wins in the first five matches. The team then suffered two consecutive defeats against Bakhira and Turbo, putting it in a critical and complex position, as it is currently tied in wins and losses (3-4) with four other teams: 3BS, Turbo, Rising Peaks, and RA2.

Red Zone drew its strength from possessing one of the most powerful offensive systems in the first split; Egyptian star Mohamed Abdel Fattah scored nine goals, sharing second place in the tournament's top scorers list. Spaniard Jil Vidal, who previously played for SXB FC in the Kings Cup last year, also shone by scoring eight goals and providing three assists, winning the Man of the Match (MVP) award twice. Another Spaniard, Julen Alvarez, added four goals and four assists.

In contrast, 3BS took a completely different path to reach the same record (3-4). After the harsh opening defeat, it rose to achieve a wide 9-3 victory over Bakhira, then pulled off one of the season's biggest surprises by ending FWZ's unbeaten streak with a 4-3 win. Its recent penalty shootout victory over ABO FC on the seventh matchday also pushed it up to seventh place in the overall standings.

Exceptional individual performances formed the cornerstone of 3BS's journey; the team's attack is led by the brilliant duo of Frenchman Moussa Sao and Egyptian Khaled Abbas. Sao scored 8 goals and provided two assists, standing alone at the top of the tournament's players in winning the Man of the Match (MVP) award five times, while Abbas scored 7 goals, establishing himself as one of the most active strikers in the tournament. On the defensive side, 3BS goalkeeper "JMK" leads the Kings League goalkeepers list with 61 successful saves after seven rounds.

With only two days left until the end of the league stage, the Jordanian representation faces decisive and challenging opportunities. 3BS will face a fateful confrontation on October 16 against the Saudi team RA2, currently in fifth place (which also holds a 3-4 record), before facing the defending champion, the Saudi team DR7, on the 23rd. As for Red Zone, it will clash with the Moroccan team Ultra Chmicha on the eighth day, before concluding its league stage journey with a highly anticipated match against the Saudi team Rising Peaks (which shares the same 3-4 record).

With five teams tied with a (3-4) record, every result will be decisive in shaping the qualification picture. The first-place team will qualify directly for the semi-finals, while teams from second to seventh place will compete in the quarter-finals scheduled for the 26th of this month to secure their spots in the Final Four at the end of the month.
