Jordan condemns settler attacks on a European diplomatic delegation and Palestinians in the West Bank

Jordan condemned, on Saturday, the settler attacks on a European diplomatic delegation that included the Belgian Consul General and French and Polish diplomats, as well as Palestinian farmers during their olive harvest, representatives of the Catholic Church, and journalists, in the town of Taybeh, east of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank, holding Israel, the occupying power, responsible for these attacks.

The official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ambassador Sufyan Qudah, affirmed the Kingdom's absolute rejection and condemnation of the terrorist settler attacks, which are an extension of the extremist Israeli government's policy and coincide with the continuation of illegal Israeli measures in the occupied West Bank, which fuel extremism and violence against the Palestinian people and undermine the chances of achieving peace based on the two-state solution.

Qudah called on the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities, compel Israel, the occupying power, to stop settler terrorism and their attacks on Palestinians, diplomats, clergy, and journalists, hold the perpetrators of these attacks accountable and ensure they do not escape punishment, and fulfill the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, foremost of which is the establishment of their independent and sovereign state on the June 4, 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital; as the only way to achieve a just and comprehensive peace that ensures security and stability in the region.

Settlers attacked diplomatic vehicles belonging to European missions in the village of Taybeh, east of the city of Ramallah.

The Palestinian News Agency reported that a number of masked settlers carrying clubs attacked delegations from several European diplomatic missions as they were leaving the village of Taybeh, east of Ramallah.
