"Family Affairs" receives a delegation from UN Women in Jordan

As part of enhancing partnership and cooperation with UN Women in Jordan, the Secretary-General of the National Council for Family Affairs, Dr. Mohammad Miqdadi, received a delegation from the entity that included the Regional Programme Manager from Finland, Lotta Kinnunen, and the Deputy Representative of the entity, Dr. Manal Benkirane, in the presence of representatives from the Council and the entity.

The meeting served as an opportunity to review the key achievements accomplished within the partnership between the two sides, which included the preparation of the National Policy for Early Childhood Development and Care, supporting the establishment and equipping of (9) inclusive institutional nurseries for children with disabilities in the Jordanian Armed Forces and the Public Security Directorate, alongside the preparation of the guideline manual for standard operating procedures for nurseries.

The two sides also reviewed achievements in the field of protection, including the preparation of the gap analysis document on the Law on Protection from Domestic Violence at the policy, legislative, and services levels, and working on institutionalizing violence protection systems through the development of procedural manuals and building the capacities of national cadres in the Ministry of Interior and Royal Medical Services to handle cases of domestic violence, gender-based violence, and child protection.

The parties discussed national priorities related to the Second Jordanian National Action Plan to implement Security Council Resolution (1325), and explored prospects for future cooperation to enhance family and child protection, empower women, and support sustainable development efforts in Jordan.
