Awareness seminar in Dhat Ras to combat drug risks and enhance community awareness

The Dhat Ras Social Development Association and the Dhat Ras Association for Persons with Disabilities, in cooperation with the Anti-Narcotics Department and the Mazar Al-Janoubi Security Center, organized an awareness seminar on the dangers of the drug scourge and its effects on the individual, family, and society, on the occasion of the International Volunteer Day, with broad participation from local community members and educational staff in the region.

The event witnessed a remarkable attendance from the Dhat Ras school network cluster, along with a number of male and female teachers, and a crowd of local community members, in a scene that reflected the extent of societal interest in drug prevention issues and the importance of unifying efforts between official, civil, and educational institutions to protect society from its effects.

The President of the Dhat Ras Association for Persons with Disabilities, Fadia Al-Rawashdeh, emphasized the importance of partnership between local community institutions and official agencies in implementing awareness programs and activities, and disseminating preventive messages that target youth and families, enhancing their ability to deal consciously with the risks of drugs.

She pointed out that confronting this scourge is not limited to the security aspect, but requires an integrated system of awareness, prevention, education, and community cooperation.

The Head of the Preaching and Guidance Department at the Mazar Al-Janoubi Awqaf Directorate, Hamed Al-Jaafra, highlighted the dangers of drugs from a religious and educational perspective, stressing the importance of protecting youth from behaviors that threaten their future, and strengthening religious and moral values that contribute to building a balanced personality capable of facing pressures and risks.

He emphasized the importance of the family's role in monitoring children, the necessity of dialogue, guidance, and early awareness, in addition to strengthening religious and moral conscience as one of the factors for preventing dangerous behaviors.

In another part of the event, purposeful art was present through the presentation of an awareness play in which a number of theatrical artists participated, which embodied in an influential way the dangers of drugs and their negative repercussions on the individual, their family, and their social environment, and the devastating effects they can leave on health, life, family relationships, and the future.

The participants emphasized the importance of continuing such awareness events and expanding their scope to include schools, civil society institutions, and youth centers, to ensure that preventive messages reach the largest possible segment and to consolidate the concept of shared responsibility in protecting society from drugs.
