Al-Karak is Al-Karak, with its history, the stances of its people, and the awareness of its sons, resistant to strife and infiltration. This city, which has known throughout its history stances of manhood, chivalry, and loyalty, and which has brought its Muslim and Christian sons together in times of joy and sorrow, and in the arenas of national work and the defense of Jordan, cannot have its image summarized or the authenticity of its people diminished by a crime, no matter how heinous it may be.
The relationship between Muslims and Christians in Al-Karak has been built on sincere neighborliness, mutual respect, and a shared destiny. This relationship was not a slogan raised on occasions, but a daily practice embodied in adjacent homes, family and social relations, cooperation in facing hardships, and the feeling that everyone is a son of one city and one homeland. Religious affiliation was never a cause for division among the people of Al-Karak; rather, religious diversity remained part of its social and national identity.
If this crime represents a shocking and unusual incident in the history of coexistence known to Al-Karak, the response to it must be with more cohesion, not fear; with more mutual trust, not suspicion; and by resorting to the law, not by reacting emotionally or passing judgments before investigations are completed. We must not allow an individual crime, regardless of its motives, to turn into a rift in deep-rooted historical relations, or to give those with extremist ideas an opportunity to achieve what they have failed to achieve over the years.
In these difficult moments, we recall the blessing of security and safety that Jordan enjoys, the true value of which we may not realize until we see what other societies suffer from in terms of turmoil, conflicts, and divisions. Security is not something guaranteed forever; it is a national blessing and a shared responsibility, protected by state institutions, led by our security services, and preserved by the awareness of citizens, their cohesion, and their rejection of all forms of violence and hatred.
Hence, we trust in the ability of the security and judicial services to uncover the circumstances of this crime and hold those responsible accountable in accordance with the provisions of the law, ensuring justice and preserving the rights of all. Responsibility does not lie with institutions alone, but also includes the family, the school, the mosque, the church, the media, and every entity that contributes to consolidating a culture of tolerance and respect for the other, and confronting hate speech and intolerance.
Jordan, with its Hashemite leadership and its united people, has provided a model for coexistence between followers of religions, and stability within it has remained a fundamental pillar of its strength. It is the duty of us all to preserve this legacy and not allow any painful incident to shake our trust in one another or dissipate the human and national relations we have built over long decades.
Al-Karak is not just a city; it is a history of dignity, chivalry, and loyalty. It is too great to be harmed by a crime, and too strong to be divided by strife among its sons. The Muslim and the Christian in Al-Karak will remain partners in land, identity, and destiny, brought together by love, neighborliness, and citizenship, and protected by their faith that the homeland is the home of all.
Condemning the crime is a duty, standing by our affected people is a duty, and trusting in the law and state institutions is a duty, but the greatest duty is not to allow the crime to achieve a goal that its perpetrators did not achieve: sowing fear and division among the members of one society.
May God protect Al-Karak and its people, may He keep Jordan safe and stable, and may He perpetuate love and brotherhood among its sons, so that Al-Karak remains as we have always known it: resistant to strife, resistant to infiltration, and resistant to anyone who tries to tamper with the unity of Jordanians.
