Chief of the Royal Hashemite Court, Youssef Hassan Al-Issawi, patronized on Saturday the graduation ceremony for postgraduate students at the German-Jordanian University, the "Wisdom Cohort," held at the university campus in the Jabal Amman area, at the house of the martyr Ibrahim Hashem.
The ceremony commenced with the Jordanian Royal Anthem, the German National Anthem, and a fragrant recitation of verses from the Holy Quran.
The ceremony was attended by members of the academic and administrative staff, along with a large gathering of graduates' families.
In his speech, University President Dr. Ala'eddin Al-Halhouli stated that celebrating graduates in this place, which carries a part of the history of the Jordanian state, connects the homeland's memory with the ambitions of its sons and daughters, giving graduation a meaning linked to knowledge, sincere belonging, and the honor of service. He emphasized the university's keenness to prepare graduates who possess knowledge, employ it well, and bear their responsibilities toward their country and society.
He pointed out that the university draws inspiration from the wisdom of His Majesty King Abdullah II's leadership, which is based on foresight, adherence to constants, prioritizing dialogue, and safeguarding the nation's interest and human dignity, thereby reinforcing its mission in building a conscious human being capable of assessing the outcomes of their decisions and contributing to community service.
He explained that choosing the name "Wisdom Cohort" expresses the belief that the fruit of knowledge lies in sound understanding, choice, and action, drawing attention to the need for knowledge coupled with insight—one that distinguishes between reliable information and mere claims, and ties progress to human interest, dignity, and the service of the public good.
Al-Halhouli praised the perseverance of the graduates who pursued their studies and research alongside their professional and family responsibilities, inviting them to make their academic theses and research the beginning of a lasting impact, to commit to academic integrity and continuous learning, and to maintain their connection with their university while contributing their expertise and ideas to support its journey.
He expressed his appreciation to the academic and administrative staff, university partners, and the graduates' families for their role in providing a supportive environment for research and excellence, and for standing by the students until they completed their study requirements.
For his part, Dean of Graduate Studies Dr. Eyad Hamad affirmed that graduate studies go beyond acquiring knowledge to developing students' abilities in thinking, analysis, questioning, and innovative problem-solving, noting that the degree marks the beginning of a new phase of responsibility and contribution.
He said that excellence in a world of accelerating technological developments and the growing role of artificial intelligence requires continuous learning, adaptability, and the courage to innovate. He called upon the graduates to employ their knowledge in the service of humanity, society, and the nation, to be change-makers and leaders of its path, and to carry the university's message and values to their positions in Jordan and abroad.
Additionally, graduates Dina Al-Saraira and Mohammad Al-Fayoumi delivered speeches in Arabic and English, respectively, expressing their gratitude and appreciation to the German-Jordanian University, and commending the efforts of the academic and administrative staff and families in supporting students throughout their academic journey.
Al-Saraira emphasized that the university experience fosters critical thinking, research, and questioning, noting that graduation carries a responsibility that extends beyond obtaining a certificate to employing knowledge, leaving an impact, and facing the future with a researcher's spirit and readiness for its demands.
In turn, Al-Fayoumi stressed that the graduates' achievement is the fruit of perseverance and mutual support, recalling the challenges they faced in balancing academic requirements with family and professional responsibilities, and urging his colleagues to translate their knowledge into action and achievement.
The celebration featured a video screening showcasing milestones of the graduates' academic journey at the university, their study and research experiences, the challenges they overcame, the impact of this experience in developing their skills and boosting their self-confidence, alongside their academic and professional ambitions.
