"Al-Hussein" in Baghdad to face "Al-Shorta" in Asia

Yesterday, Al-Hussein team conducted its first training session in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, in preparation for facing Iraq's Al-Shorta the day after tomorrow, Tuesday, at Al-Zawraa Stadium, as part of the group stage of the AFC Champions League 2.

Al-Hussein occupies second place in the group with 4 points, behind the leader Al-Shorta (6), while the Indian team East Bengal is in third place (1), and Oman's Al-Seeb sits at the bottom of the table with no points.

The Al-Hussein delegation arrived in Baghdad early to give the players sufficient time to acclimatize to the surroundings and prepare for the match under the best possible conditions, given the importance of the encounter in the team's calculations and its continental ambitions.

The technical staff, led by Spanish coach Koro Torres, seeks to utilize the time factor by intensifying preparations, putting the final technical touches, and enhancing physical readiness to ensure a performance at the desired level against the group leader.

Training is expected to focus on executing tactical duties and strengthening cohesion between the team's lines, in addition to studying the opponent and identifying its key strengths and weaknesses to help the team handle the match appropriately.

Al-Hussein enters the match with a full squad, as there are no absences, which gives the technical staff multiple options to select the most suitable lineup and boosts its chances of entering the match with high focus and the ambition to achieve a positive result that supports its continental campaign.

The three-time defending Pro League champion is relying on the high morale of its players following the victory over Dequara in the local league, as well as the win over Al-Seeb in its last continental outing, during which it delivered its best performance of the current season.

The northern team realizes that returning from Baghdad with a positive result would boost its chances of securing one of the two qualifying spots for the second round; from this perspective, Coach Torres' men will strive to exert their utmost effort in a match that may be the most difficult in their continental path.
