Amman, October 17 (Petra) - The Ipsos Consumer Confidence Index was released yesterday, Friday. It is a quarterly national survey that measures consumer opinions regarding the current and future state of the economy, their personal financial situations, and their ability to save.
The latest results showed that the Consumer Confidence Index in Jordan reached 42.6 points in the third quarter of 2026, an increase of 1.1 points compared to 41.5 points in the previous quarter and 36 points for the same period in 2025.
This rise was primarily driven by improved economic expectations, as the consumer confidence index for local economic trends rose by 8.6 points to reach 58.5 out of 100 points compared to the second quarter of 2026. This result represents a composite index value and not a percentage of participants.
Regarding future expectations, 50 percent of consumers expect the economic situation to improve over the next six months, while 37 percent expect it to remain the same, and 13 percent expect it to decline. These results reflect a more positive outlook for the coming months.
The outlook on the general direction of the country also remains positive, as about two out of every three consumers (64 percent) see that things in Jordan are heading in the right direction. Thus, Jordan ranks fourth among the countries included in the global comparison in the report, totaling 23 countries, after China, Saudi Arabia, and India.
Confidence levels varied among sub-indices; the consumer confidence index for personal financial capabilities fell by 3.1 points to 30.2 points, while the consumer confidence index for general job security rose by 5.2 points, reaching 50.3 points.
Despite the improvement in the overall consumer confidence index, unemployment and inflation remain at the top of the list of consumer concerns in Jordan. 56 percent of participants pointed to unemployment and job opportunities as among their top concerns, followed by inflation at 54 percent. These results confirm the continued importance of job opportunities and living costs in shaping consumer opinions.
In general, the third-quarter results indicate improved economic expectations alongside continued caution regarding personal financial situations. The rise in consumer confidence reflects greater optimism about the future, while households remain preoccupied with the financial pressures they face.
It is noteworthy that the survey was conducted last September through computer-assisted telephone interviews, covering 1,000 participants in Jordan aged 18 and above.
