US President Donald Trump said that the war with Iran will end "perhaps before the midterm elections or immediately after them," while stressing at the same time that Tehran desperately wants to reach an agreement with Washington.
Trump added that Iran "wants to make a deal at any cost," but emphasized that he will not sign a "sub-optimal" agreement, confirming that Tehran will not obtain a nuclear weapon.
Trump had stated in previous remarks that the war would end immediately after the midterm elections scheduled for November, pointing out that Iran can no longer hold out for long.
In another matter, Trump called on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to stop striking oil facilities in Russia.
