The heinous crime..

In one of the surprises we did not expect, a painful incident occurred in the embrace and surroundings of Karak Governorate. The surprise, and the pain it carries, is formed by several factors, including: that it took place in a church during a funeral, and that it happened in a city of generosity, tolerance, beautiful coexistence, and good neighborliness between Muslims and Christians, within a prevailing Jordanian culture that is at an excellent level compared to others.

First and foremost, I would like to express my deepest sorrow and strong condemnation for what happened in the village of Hamoud, and also my strong support for all the injured, hoping that God Almighty grants them a speedy recovery. Even more so, I offer my support to the families of those who lost their lives as a result of a heinous crime that does not belong to humanity in any way, shape, or form, and which no religion that has ever passed through this world would permit.

Then, let us discuss our assigned role toward our homeland, as we see with our own eyes a heinous crime attempting to destabilize the security and stability of this dear country, which is considered a fundamental pillar for the security of the entire region.

The event is alien to our culture and far from our customs. It is also clear in its affiliation with agendas outside the borders of the homeland. As for the exploitation of some souls to be a tool for achieving those agendas, this is a matter we must pay attention to. Brainwashing, then emptying the mind and filling it with every abomination, makes some of them unable to see with their own eyes; rather, they are blinded by hatred, and like a bloated balloon filled with what they are told, they know neither good nor evil. The winds of malice toss them onto the embers of crime, so they do not distinguish between their father and their brother, let alone between a Muslim and a Christian.

Two important matters must be discussed with the highest degree of seriousness:

The first matter: Our cohesion in blessed Jordan: How we develop it, increase our bonds, how we stand with the people of Hamoud village with all meanings of sympathy and support, and how we follow the example of the King of the country as he translates the meanings of concern for the homeland in a sincere image, a compassionate hand, and a heart that combines strength against the enemies of the homeland and mercy for the afflicted.

This cohesion is not a product of the moment; it is rooted in us as Muslims, by the command of the Lord of the Worlds and by the biography of our master Muhammad, the Prophet sent as a mercy to the worlds. It is also rooted in Jordanian Christians from their religion and culture. As for customs, they unite us, and as for traditions, they are our framework, embodied in preserving this blessed homeland, its land and sky, its history and present, and maintaining the trust to hand it over to the generations after us.

The second matter: That we become more careful about the minds of our children so that they do not become cheap and easy prey for every crier for the ruin of this homeland—or that one—from those who misappropriate the guise of religion and drag the gullible and the hasty, who do not know the meaning of religion, to be driven to death while they watch, thinking they are being ushered into the gardens of eternity.

We must have a collective awakening in which we reschedule our actions so that Jordan remains bright in its heritage and a destination for the safe and those seeking safety. We renew the lesson and repeat it: We are people of tolerance in our religion, and Islam urges us to do good deeds, forbids us from shedding blood, and prevents us from aggression, in a system of goodness and a golden chain of light far from the bats of darkness who represent nothing but absurdity. The law must achieve justice in curbing the heinous crime in this world, but in the hereafter, intentions will not avail before the judgment of the Lord of the Worlds, if the crime was one of injustice, and injustice is not accepted by the Lord of the servants and He punishes for it in a blazing fire.

May God protect Jordan as an impregnable fortress against the tampering of the tamperers, the intransigence of the extremists, and the injustice and darkness of the oppressors.. Amen.
