Teacher's Day

Perhaps the most crucial support teachers need is enabling them to perform their roles with high professionalism and equipping them with new skills in their work, ensuring integration between skill utilization and achieving quality learning outcomes. It is no longer effective for their role to be limited to knowledge transfer, especially when knowledge is now available in more engaging and attractive forms than traditional rote learning, which often fails to motivate students.

Managing the learning environment to align with students' interests, readiness, psychological characteristics, and the rapid growth of modern technology tools requires specialized training for teachers, which can be transferred to the classroom while also modifying the philosophy teachers adopt regarding their social roles and the purpose of the entire educational process.

Despite the importance of achieving teacher autonomy in managing educational situations, they should not be left alone to face the increasing demands of educational management and the need to adapt to educational innovations without support in two areas: technical and professional support, and psychological and social support. In addition to continuous training and the development of the educational environment, several factors can increase a teacher's desire to work and enhance their passion for continuing their educational mission. These factors include improving the work environment and enhancing the school climate, and reducing the workload on teachers. Factors such as increased financial and social incentives, and greater societal recognition of the teacher's status and role, also contribute to job satisfaction and attachment to the teaching profession.

The role of education has expanded beyond knowledge transfer to equipping students with future skills and enabling them to live in a world full of innovations and challenges, which requires highly competent teachers. This is also reflected in the OECD's report titled 'Education at a Glance 2026', which highlights a shift in the perception of teachers from being mere implementers of the educational process to being a fundamental pillar in the quality and effectiveness of education. The report emphasizes that the sustainability of educational systems is not achieved merely by providing sufficient numbers of teachers, but requires investing in their competencies, improving their working conditions, enhancing their professional independence, and providing supportive school environments that allow them to utilize their expertise in developing student learning and well-being.
