Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian pledged on Tuesday to firmly defend his country's positions during these meetings amid the war with the United States
Iranian state television quoted Pezeshkian as saying before leaving Iran, "We came out of the war with our heads held high, and this is a source of dignity and pride for all of us. Therefore, we will firmly defend our positions in international forums"
Pezeshkian is leaving on Tuesday for New York to attend the UN General Assembly.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi arrived in New York on Monday at the head of his country's diplomatic delegation participating in the UN General Assembly meetings, according to the Iranian Foreign Ministry.
Iranian state television reported that Araghchi made a phone call to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres after his arrival, during which they discussed views on the agenda of the General Assembly
Despite allowing the Iranian delegation to attend UN meetings, the United States imposed restrictions similar to those applied last year, including not allowing delegation members to purchase luxury goods or certain other products during their stay in New York.
