The third week of the Handball Classification League kicks off tomorrow, Friday, as part of the competition for the eight spots in the First Division League and the four spots in the Elite Cup.
In this context, Al-Kutta and Yarmouk Al-Baqa'a will meet at 5:00 PM at Princess Sumaya Hall, followed by a match between Al-Salt and Kufrsoum at 7:00 PM at the same venue.
Al-Hassan Hall will host the match between Yarmouk Al-Shuna and Wadi Al-Seer the day after tomorrow at 5:00 PM, before the 7:00 PM encounter between Kufranja and Al-Qawqazi. The same hall will host the final match of the round next Tuesday between Sakib and Al-Arabi at 6:00 PM, as part of the ongoing struggle involving the ten teams.
The results of the second week saw Al-Salt defeat Wadi Al-Seer 41-14, Al-Arabi beat Al-Qawqazi 31-29, Kufranja overcome Al-Kutta 28-23, Kufrsoum defeat Yarmouk Al-Baqa'a 35-25, and Yarmouk Al-Shuna surpass Sakib 28-23.
Before the start of the matches, Al-Salt established its direct superiority with scoring margins, holding 4 points alongside Kufranja and Al-Arabi, followed by Kufrsoum, Yarmouk Al-Shuna, Sakib, and Al-Qawqazi with 2 points, while the teams of Al-Kutta, Yarmouk Al-Baqa'a, and Wadi Al-Seer remain outside the actual race at the bottom of the standings with no points.
Through the ten matches held so far, the intentions of the teams moving forward have become clear. In terms of technical level, Al-Salt remains the best in terms of the quality of its scoring elements, along with the powerhouse Kufranja—one of the active teams over long periods—and serious attempts by the historic Al-Arabi club to return to the podium.
Perhaps those matches did not carry the desired excitement despite the presence of many names in the league from national team squads, according to "Alrai's" monitoring. However, the stage of team struggle, the search for sole leadership, and deepening into the atmosphere regarding positions in a way that allows for reading the features, will likely begin from next Tuesday, specifically during the meeting of neighbors Sakib and Al-Arabi in match (15), which concludes the third week for many considerations.
Meanwhile, Al-Kutta, Wadi Al-Seer, and Yarmouk Al-Baqa'a need to get things in order, as they suffer from a lack of ability to find the net and defensive regression that cost them heavy results, with some relying on promising elements and failing to make impactful signings capable of filling the void in some positions, especially since the principle of compensation in the coming weeks will become more difficult as time passes.
The performances of Kufrsoum, Yarmouk Al-Shuna, Sakib, and Al-Qawqazi varied, and although there is clear praise for the presence of talent within their rosters, their supporters will ultimately demand achieving victory and reject the principle of participating just for the sake of participating.
Princess Sumaya Women's Cup
On a different note, the Handball Federation issued the schedule for the Princess Sumaya Women's Cup for the 2026 season, with the participation of Amman, Hartha, Ittihad Al-Salt, and Kufrsoum. The tournament will be held according to a single-stage league system, and the team with the highest points will win the championship title.
Next Tuesday at 5:00 PM, Kufrsoum and Hartha will meet at Al-Hassan Hall, and at 7:00 PM, Ittihad Al-Salt and Amman will meet at Princess Sumaya Hall. Then, on the 27th of this month, Al-Hassan Hall will host two matches: Kufrsoum vs. Amman at 5:00 PM, and Hartha vs. Ittihad Al-Salt at 7:00 PM. The competition concludes on the 3rd of next month at Princess Sumaya Hall with the match between Ittihad Al-Salt and Kufrsoum at 5:00 PM, and Amman vs. Hartha at 7:00 PM.
