The Iranian Fars News Agency reported that a police official was killed on Friday in a roadside bombing in the southeast of the country.
The official was traveling near Zahedan, the capital of the impoverished Sistan and Baluchestan province, located on the border with Pakistan and Afghanistan, which serves as a drug smuggling route.
The incident follows clashes between security forces, armed groups, and separatists.
