The sixth week of the "First Division" kicks off... today
The sixth week of the First Division Football League kicks off today amidst important calculations between clubs aspiring to reach the Professional League, and matchups that may bring influential changes to the standings.
According to the competition schedule, all sixth-round matches will be held at 6:00 PM, with the exception of the Al-Sarhan vs. Amman FC match, which will start at 3:00 PM.
The start of the round will witness three anticipated matches, as Al-Sarhan meets Amman FC at Prince Mohammed Stadium in a confrontation where both parties seek to achieve a positive result that strengthens their position in the standings, especially since Amman FC is considered one of the most prominent competitors for the two promotion spots this season.
In another match, Al-Yarmouk faces Sahl Houran in a meeting that carries double importance for both teams due to their proximity in the standings.
Prince Hashem Stadium will also host a matchup between Al-Sareeh and Jerash, in a game where Jerash, the league leader, hopes to maintain the top spot, while Al-Sareeh looks to regain its balance and achieve its first win.
The sixth week's competitions continue tomorrow with three other matches, as Shabab Al-Aqaba meets Al-Ahli at the Aqaba Stadium, in a confrontation where the hosts seek to collect their first points this season and move away from the bottom of the standings, while Al-Ahli looks to continue improving its results and advance toward safer positions. In another match, Ittihad Al-Ramtha meets Al-Hashimiya in a largely balanced confrontation, especially since both teams are among those seeking to establish their footing among the top teams.
Hayy Al-Amir Hassan also meets Ma'an at Prince Mohammed Stadium in a match where Ma'an looks to continue competing for the top positions, while Hayy Al-Amir Hassan hopes to achieve its first victory and boost its point tally.
Close standings
Jerash continues to sit at the top of the league after collecting 13 points from the previous rounds, confirming its seriousness in competing for one of the two promotion spots to the Professional League clubs.
Amman FC comes in second place with 11 points, continuing to chase the leader and benefiting from its positive results that have placed it among the most prominent candidates to compete until the final stages of the tournament.
As for Sahl Houran, it occupies third place with 9 points, maintaining a strong presence among the top teams, while the following positions are witnessing a state of crowding and intense competition, as the teams of Al-Yarmouk, Ma'an, Al-Hashimiya, and Ittihad Al-Ramtha are tied with 8 points each, which makes the results of this round likely to cause wide changes in the standings.
Al-Sarhan comes in the next place with 7 points, a tally that keeps it close to the competition circle and gives it a chance to advance further if it achieves a positive result during the current round.
On the other hand, Al-Ahli raised its tally to 4 points and hopes to continue improving its results over the coming weeks, while both Al-Sareeh and Hayy Al-Amir Hassan are suffering after only managing to collect two points so far, which puts them under great pressure to seek victories and escape from the bottom positions.
As for Shabab Al-Aqaba, it still languishes in last place without any points, which makes it in dire need of achieving a positive result that restores confidence to its ranks and revives its hopes of staying.
Double importance
The importance of the competition increases this season in light of the tournament system, which stipulates that the first and second-place teams are promoted directly to the Professional League clubs, a goal that most clubs have set their sights on since the start of the season.
It is expected that the coming rounds will witness an intense struggle between a number of teams that have close chances of competing for the two promotion spots, especially in light of the limited point differences between the top teams.
On the other hand, the battle for survival is no less exciting than the race for promotion, as four teams will be relegated from the First Division to the Second Division at the end of the season.
