The Military Criminal Court in Syria issued sentences on Thursday against 4 defendants accused of committing violations during the Syrian Coast events last year.
According to the Syrian News Agency (SANA), the court ruled during a session held at the Justice Palace in Aleppo, to execute one of the defendants, sentence the second to life imprisonment, and sentence the third to 20 years in prison, while acquitting the fourth defendant.
The first public trial sessions for the defendants began on November 18 last year, at the Justice Palace in Aleppo, in the presence of the victims' families.
The court held several public sessions dedicated to reviewing evidence and discussing the defenses presented by the defendants, in the presence of the relevant judicial authorities.
The National Committee for Investigation and Fact-Finding on the Syrian Coast events issued a report on July 22, 2025, stating that remnants of the former regime carried out widespread attacks on army and security headquarters on March 6, 2025, resulting in the death of 238 personnel.
The committee also recorded violations against civilians in the following days, stating that investigations showed that these acts were not organized but were committed by individuals and small groups with varying motives, characterized by an individual and random nature, far from any systematic pattern.
