National basketball team playmaker Freddy Ibrahim has moved to the Philippine club Abra Weavers.
His transfer comes under a professional agreement through which he will compete in the East Asia Super League (EASL) for the 2026-2027 season, marking his first Asian experience after a career that saw him move between Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Canada.
The deal takes on a special dimension as Freddy Ibrahim faced the Philippines just weeks ago in the 2027 World Cup qualifiers, where he recorded 22 points, four rebounds, and five assists, despite Jordan's loss.
According to a report by journalist Justin Bacnis in "Tiebreaker Times," Freddy is expected to arrive in the Philippines tomorrow, Sunday, without financial details or the duration of the contract being disclosed.
Freddy's numbers in the current qualifiers show an average of 12.5 points and 5.4 assists in eight games, which explains Abra's need for him as a playmaker capable of setting the offensive pace and creating opportunities for his teammates.
Abra enters the tournament as the holder of the Philippine MPBL title, as the first representative of this competition in the EASL, and will open its campaign against Hong Kong Eastern on October 3 in Cebu, with ambitions to compete for a qualifying spot for the Asian Champions League.
