The Syndicate of Recruitment Office Owners for Domestic Workers, Tariq Al-Nawwati, confirmed on Alrai, the necessity of toughening penalties for anyone who shelters or employs runaway workers in a manner contrary to the law, indicating that these practices have contributed to the growth of the black market and caused financial damage to licensed offices and employers. Al-Nawwati said that recruitment offices bear the responsibility of replacing the worker during the sponsorship period, but most cases of escape occur after the first three months, confirming that the office remains affected in both cases. He explained that some brokers and unlicensed offices exploit runaway workers by sheltering and employing them illegally, calling for the prosecution of the parties and individuals responsible for these violations. Al-Nawwati called for amending the legislation to ensure the investigation of cases of runaway workers, identifying those who sheltered or employed them, holding the perpetrators legally and financially accountable, and compensating employers and recruitment offices for the resulting losses.
